Forest school

Project Rewild is a leading provider of high quality Forest School groups in Hastings and the surrounding area. Our team comprises of highly skilled and qualified forest school leaders with decades of experience delivering forest school programmes in schools and communities across East Sussex.

We have delivered successful forest school programmes in dozens of local primary and secondary schools including Dudley Academy, Robsack Wood, St Leonards Academy, Ark Alexandra, St Richards, and Little Common school. We have worked with thousands of local school children over the last 5 years.

We absolutely love and promote the forest school method and ethos, but feel that what we are developing goes beyond forest school. Or at least beyond the public image and perception of Forest school. For this reason we rarely use the term Forest School in our community work. We prefer the term Rewilding as it better describes the deeper connection with nature that we are striving to help people understand and feel.

We do understand that the term Forest School is easy to understand as it is well established in schools. For this reason we are more than happy to deliver our own high quality and immersive forest school programmes in schools.

What is Forest School?

According to the Sussex Wildlife Trust:

The ethos of Forest School is based on a fundamental respect for children and young people and for their capacity to instigate, test and maintain curiosity in the world around them. An understanding a child’s right to play; right to access risk; right to access the outdoors and the vibrant reality of the natural world.

Forest School Programmes for schools and community groups aim to allow children and young people to develop independence, resilience, confidence, motivation and a love and understanding of wildlife and nature through a considered approach to learning and development.
